Our first documented outing before we even had our name yet. I happened to have a camera on loan from another project, so I called up Zach at about 7:30pm and we brainstormed our resources for what to do at 8pm. Our goal was to make a simple short film for an upcoming short film festival.
We shot down a few ideas until Zach mentioned he had a few bags of orange circus peanuts. Seriously? A handful, maybe. But who has bags lying around? Zach does. He loves those shapely marshmallow outcasts and will defend their sugary worth until his dying day (crushed to death by a disgruntled marshmallow circus elephant, let’s hope).
An epiphany ensued and we packed our plan down to Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. It took some practice and moments of courage-building to really go for it, but we ended up having a blast putting peanuts on people. And I’ll give it to Zach: for all his peanut love, he was much better at giving them away than I was. My skill lied in merely getting my hand slapped away instead of getting punched in the face. Whatever, I had my safety glasses on.
Music for the video was recorded live from the promenade’s ambiance, which is rife with street performers.

what’s the difference between circus peanuts and packing peanuts anyway?
